A newcomer that doesn't mess around

Features & Design: 4/5 ● Performance: 4.5/5 ● Value: 5/5
Overall, the ZTE Axon 7 provides you with a top-notch smartphone experience. With exceptional performance, amazing audio, and a powerful camera at a great price, there’s very little wrong with this phone.
The weak low-light camera performance and slippery design are a little disappointing. The software, while largely excellent, could do with some refinements.
Is it for you?
The ZTE Axon 7 provides exceptional performance at an exceptional price. It’s perfect for those who often push their phones to the limit but don’t want to drop a ton of cash on a new phone.
“With impressive performance, a top-notch camera, and a heavily customizable and responsive operating system, there’s a lot going for this phone.”
Meet the ZTE Axon 7
While ZTE isn’t a name that you hear too often when discussing smartphones, the Axon 7 is a phone that can compete with the best of them. After its 2016 release, the Axon 7 quickly captured the attention of critics and consumers alike. With great performance at a reasonable price, the ZTE Axon 7 joins a growing list of high-end smartphones that provide excellent specs at an affordable price point.
What we like
The ZTE Axon 7's performance is awesome. It’s powered by the processor that was featured in every major flagship phone released last year. It was used for good reason too. The hardware is a significant upgrade over ZTE's previous model and, as a result, the Axon 7 is responsive and powerful. Another pleasant surprise is the sound quality. The dual front-facing speakers give audio quality that easily surpasses that of the majority of smartphones and will impress everyone outside of the most discerning audiophiles.
To round out the benefits, a sizeable battery ensures that you’ll get a full day of moderate use out of the phone. Available at a surprisingly low price, the Axon 7 remains a great buy to this day.
What we don’t like
There’s very little that we dislike about the ZTE Axon 7. That said, the camera, while impressive, struggles in low-light situations. Many phones have addressed the low-light issue, so it’s unfortunate that the Axon 7 still struggles with the problem. Other than that, the slippery body design and some issues with the phone’s software are worth mentioning. That said, these issues are minor and won’t pose a major problem for most users.
Should you buy it?
With high-end performance at a budget price, the ZTE Axon 7 offers a lot of value to any Android user. Whether you’re a music aficionado, a gamer, or just a day-to-day user, the Axon 7 has got you covered. If you’re open to straying away from industry staples like Apple and Samsung but don’t want to compromise on performance, this phone is definitely worth a look.
