Xiaomi’s Latest and Greatest Smartphone

Features & Design: 4/5 ● Performance: 4/5 ● Value: 4/5 ● Battery Life 4/5
Xiaomi came out swinging with this model, as it has all of the internal components that one would expect to find on a much more expensive flagship model phone. We have a 1080 x 2246px display which is rated as FHD+, and a high pixel density of 403 pixels per inch, which gives the screen a highly detailed look with crisp visuals.
Right off the bat, you will discover that Xiaomi had to cut some corners somewhere to make this phone the affordable giant killer that it is, and this is nowhere more evident than in the phone’s case. It is made from plastic, which isn’t a deal breaker for most people, but if you were hoping for a premium feeling smartphone, then this is not the model.
Is it for you?
Anybody that enjoys Android based smartphones would be hard pressed to durn this phone down, given the fact that it is bursting at the seams with pure processing power. It has great cameras and battery life as well.
Meet the Xiaomi Pocophone F1
The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is a 6.1” inch phone that packs a high quality IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. The internal chipset is a Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845, with an Octacore CPU. RAM totals at a whopping 8GB or 6GB, and internal storage comes in at 256GB or 64/128GB. The main camera is a dual 12MP setup, while the front facing selfie camera is a 20MP single camera.
What we like
The battery is really good in this phone, and it is rated at 4000mAh. The color selection is also really good, with Graphite Black, Steel Blue, Rosso Red, and even an Armoured Edition with Kevlar. And while many people might feel like plastic is not the best material for a flagship smartphone, some actually prefer it over the glass devices that have become so popular in recent years.
Another thing we like about this device is the fact that the Pocophone also comes with an additional MicroSD card slot is another great feature for potential owners of this device, as sometimes the standard capacities of a smart phone will not suffice.
Perhaps one of the best things about this smartphone is the fact that the battery seems to just last and last, which is not something that a lot of manufacturers can say about their phones in 2018.
What we don’t like
The first thing that almost everyone complains about with this style of device is the ever present notch. Some have made peace with the idea that they are destined to have the notch on their devices forever, but Xiaomi has a nifty feature up their sleeve. The notch can be removed if you want, making the screen appear like a normal device. It is such as simple solution but so effective.
Should you buy it?
If you don’t feel like paying inflated prices for a device that looks great on the outside, but can’t actually compete with this year’s flagship devices, then yes, this is the phone for you. From its solid internal chipset, CPU and memory configurations, to its understated external cosmetic appearance, this phone is all power and no compromise. For the price point, you will not find another device that can match up to it in speed and specifications.
