The 3-Minute Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro Review
Detailed Clear Picture with the 108MP Camera
By Rachel Hutson | 17 November 2019
Xiaomi has released the MI Note 10 Pro smartphone this November to the markets. Shifting the face of smartphones as it's fitted with a 108MP Penta camera, the largest to be equipped in a phone to date.
It's fitted with a 6.47-inch curved AMOLED droplet notch display. With a sleek in hand feel due to its front and rear curved glass and aluminum frame.
This device has 5 rear cameras: 5MP telephoto, 12MP portrait, 8p 108MP ultra-high resolution, 20MP ultra-wide-angle, all working in harmony to produce fantastic high-quality photos, and is fitted with a 32MP selfie camera.
Managed by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G, 8GB RAM, and 256GB of storage. Running on Android 9 Pie and MIUI 11 OS and powering this device is a 5260mAh battery.
The MI Note 10 and MI Note 10 Pro are only told apart by three fundamental changes. The lens on the primary 108MP camera, the next, is the RAM as the Pro has 8GB RAM vs. the 6GB RAM, and lastly, the storage size of 256GB vs. the 128GB.
Features & Design: 4/5 ● Performance: 3/5 ● Value: 3/5 ● Sound Quality 4/5
The cameras are what make this smartphone unique with a 5MP telephoto 10x hybrid zoom and 50x digital zoom. 12MP portrait 2x optical zoom and dual pixel autofocus.108MP ultra-high-resolution 1/1.33″ super sensor, 8P lens, 4-axis OIS. 20MP ultra wide-angle with a 117°field of view and 2MP macro camera for macro zoom shooting.
The MI Note 10 Pro did, however, come with a 5260mAh battery and offer 30W fast charge.
The MI Note 10 Pro is only fitted with the Snapdragon 730G chipset, and many feel this is a massive let down as the Mi 9T Pro offers a Snapdragon 855. If they chose to go with a larger chipset, they could have limited the lag on this device as the 730G just doesn’t quite cut it.
Is it for you?
The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro smartphone is more of a sign of things to come, as many consumers are looking for a flagship device with these kind of camera capabilities.
What we like
The Mi Note 10 Pro comes with a few nifty features like the IR Blaster that lets you control devices in your home and the fact that they kept the 3.5mm headphone jack so you can still use your standard devices with is smartphone.
The improved in-screen fingerprint sensor optimizes the unlocking experience in bright light, with dry fingers, and at low temperatures.
What we don’t like
The MI Note 10 Pro was designed with a downgraded chipset to similar range smartphones, which brings me to my next point, which is the price; this device is not cheap as it's in the price range of the Samsung S10 or iPhone 11.
Then lastly, this device does not come with a certified IP rating, which may be an issue for some.
Should you buy it?
If looking purely at the cameras, then yes, this is the device for you. If you are looking for higher performance and better screen specks, then you may want to look at other devices in this price range.
