Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD - Canon Review
This new product from Canon is a smart purchase within the camera lens category. The Tamron SO 24-70MM f/2.8 Di VC UCD, as the name suggests provides a very useful range that varies from 24mm true wide-angle to 70mm short telephoto, films and photography, interiors, landscapes, portraits etc.
The built-in image stabilization feature makes it possible to click the best of shots using the Tamron SP 24-70mm lens. The lens makes use of special high-grade glasses in the three LD-elements. The lens makes use of three Glass Molded Spherical Lenses, one Hybrid Spherical Lens and two XR (Extra Refractive Index) glasses for superior image quality. The commendable thing about the Tamron SP 24-70mm zoom is that it allows for these features within a compact body of 3.5 x 4.6" and weighing only 29.1 oz, meaning that it is light enough to be carried around all day long.
Tamron SP 24-70mm device is in fact the world's first ever high-speed standard zoom of a full-size that contains a built-in Vibration Compensation. The device also features an Ultrasonic Silent Drive or a USD. The lens presents, or rather adopts an up-to-date technology in a small and compact body. The new VC technology that has been introduced with the Tamron SP 24-70mm, reverses the position of the magnet and the coil. This makes the new VC mechanism enjoy the benefits of a moving coil.
Another element that forms an essential part of the Tamron SP24-70mm lens is the Ultrasonic motor. The motor is piezoelectric element forming a ring-like structure, which generates ultrasonic vibrations in a ring stator. The vibration energy that is hence produced is used for rotating the metallic ring rotator, which is attached to the stator. The mount type that the lens used is the Canon EF. The device has 9 Diaphragm blades and an aperture of Maximum: f/2.8 and Minimum: f/22. The device gives an ultimate angle view of 84° - 34°, APS-C Picture Angle: 60° - 22° for unbeatable results.
The minimum focus distance that the lens captures is that of 15" or 38.10 cm. The lens gives a fine quality in a low light setup as well. All in all, it is worth the money. Since the coil is lighter in weight the load on the drive system is automatically reduced. The shape and size of the drive coils are designed in such a way that they are able to sustain sufficient thrust will taking shots using the Tamron SP 24-70mm.
