Shure SRH440 Review

The Shure SRH440 is a closed back, circumaural design professional studio headphone. It has a 10-foot coiled cable is detachable which is easier to carry when travelling and replaceable in case it gets broken. The ear cup pads are replaceable also so as not to stop the user from using the headphone just because of torn ear pads. The sound of SRH440 is appropriately loud. It separates the sound effectively and different instruments are easily identified. The SRH440 excels when it comes to classical, jazz and other types of music with high-frequency instruments. On the other hand, this headphone is not for those who love powerful bass because bass here is less of a pounding type. SRH440 is well built, it looks long-lasting. It, however, runs big. For an average head, it slips backwards or forwards even with the use of the headband adjustment. This isn’t an issue if you have a wider head. The cancellation of sound is satisfactory. Although some sound could still be heard, it is at the minimum. This is partly due to the not-too-tight headband that sips some external sound. Also, the ear cushions are not big enough to cover the ear completely, another possible reason for not being able to eliminate outside sound perfectly and a disadvantage to those with big ears. SRH 440 is reasonably priced compared to other pricey headphones. The sound is excellent at a lower price. There is one drawback, it is the cord that is coiled which is hard to manage especially because it is twisting and it’s around ten feet long. However, it is detachable and a straight cable is now available from Shure. The weight of the headphone is not really light. It, therefore, hurts a little on the head if it is used for a longer period of time. But this weight is typical amongst headphones. Overall, the Shure SRH440 sounds fantastic, eliminates most of the external sounds, sold at a reasonable price and some parts are detachable, foldable or replaceable which help extend the life of the headphone. It is easy to clean and maintain. This is a great value for money.
