Sennheiser RS-160 ReviewThe Sennheiser RS 160 is a digital wireless headphone with a bass-driven audio. It has a portable transmitter that has multi-receiver facility. This transmitter is powered by battery or AC. The transmitter is just plugged in and the headset is ready to use. This headphone uses two AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries. It has a range of 60 feet for audiophile-grade sound and reception. For one transmitter, four compatible Sennheiser Kleer headphones can be synced at the same time. Like other headphones, its headband is adjustable for a better fit, but, it is tighter than the 140. The digital volume control has a mute function. The sound is great compared to other wireless headphones. There should be no sound leakage from this closed, around-the-ear and leatherette ear pads. However, these ear pads cannot block much outside noises. Also, they can somehow create sweat around the ears due to lack of aeration in that area. Moreover, the ear pads are for those who have small ears. The on and off switch and the volume control are not easy to feel. To operate this headphone, you just plug the audio jack and turn on the base and the headset. No tuning or switching of channels is needed. The battery can be charged every 6-8 hours or use an AAA battery in case charging is not possible. It is, however, a drawback for not having able to offer a charging cradle for an expensive headset like this one because charging takes time. Plugging and unplugging charging jack or changing batteries are very inconvenient especially if you are quite busy. The RS 160 headphones are long-lasting. Even after using it for many months, the color doesn’t fade, ear cups don’t sag, switches function well and the headband doesn’t show any signs of wear and tear. It remains comfortable to use. There are reports, though, that after two years of use, the headphones are no longer charging well. The Sennheiser RS 160 is sturdy. The sound is great and the convenience of it being wireless is an advantage. It is pricey, but, its performance is highly recommendable.
