Samsung Printer Xpress SL-M2835DW Review
Samsung has yet again made their mark in the technological world by coming out with their newest printer, the Xpress SL-M2835DW. So far, Samsung has not disappointed clients or critics with their products and this new printer does not change that fact. Although designed primarily for small offices, the printer can be used in any location due to its high printing speed and duplex option. However, there is no LCD display, which can be a problem for larger businesses.
The Xpress SL – M2835DW printer is one of Samsung’s most compact printers, which is rather surprising given all that the printer is capable of. Black in color with white edges, the printer gives off a sleek, modern vibe with the Power and Cancel buttons being in bright contrasting colors. All [four] buttons, eco mode, WPS setup, cancel and power, are located on the top surface of the printer with the output tray to the left. The Xpress logo and printer model are also written in white on the bottom right corner under the [blue] power button.
The Xpress SL-M2835DW printer comes with several options for printing. For users who prefer to stick to using a cable connection to print, there are 10, 100 USB and Ethernet port on the back of the printer. Also, for users who prefer the hands-off, wireless options, there is a label on the side of the printer that allows users to print straight from their tablets or smart phones. This cable free method has been tested, retested and then tested again, the results remain the same; this method works perfectly.
As for the software of the device, Samsung has installed a printer driver as well as the Easy Printer Manager software by Samsung themselves. The driver helps to properly operate the duplex printer to allow users to print multiple pages/single sheet of paper. Also, users can install either 1,200 or 3,000 pages worth of toner into the cartridge.
After several tests, the printer is rated at being capable of printing 20.3 pages per minute. Although this is much slow than the score Samsung gave their printer (29ppm), 20.3 is still fast enough to be considered high functioning. Several smaller page tests were run and although the score dropped significantly, it was not enough to be considered rewarding. However, graphic speeds are fairly impressive for small offices. Larger offices would not get by well with this printer. It simply is not fast enough.
During “normal print mode” the quality of text and images were strong and sharp. Colors were dark and accurate. During toner-save mode, the quality of text and images was still impressive even though they were lighter in color.
When printing in greyscale, color quality is precise for text, but shades tend to blend together. This normally is not a problem for smaller businesses, though because the blending is not that intense.
