Samsung Galaxy A71 Review
The 3-Minute Samsung Galaxy A71 Smartphone Review
Fun Pastel Colors and Impressive Camera
By Rachel Hutson | 11 February 2020
Samsung has released the new line of A-series devices that range from entry-level to mid-range devices. The Samsung Galaxy A71 was released in January 2020 as the new line up for this year.
The look and feel of this device are light and striking rainbow-colored back, and it is super light due to the polycarbonate frame. The display is an infinity-o with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen. There is a quad L-Shape camera setup comprising of 64MP (F1.8) Primary,12MP Ultrawide angle, 5MP Macro, and a 5MP depth sensor. There is also a 32MP selfie camera.
With the release of the Galaxy A51 and A71 series, they are pretty much the same device with a few upgrades for the A71. They fitted a Snapdragon 730 chipset octa-core, 6GB/8GB RAM, and 128GB Memory with the option of 1TB memory expansion. It is running Android 10 OS and a massive 4500mAh battery that can be super-fast charged with a 25W charger.
Features & Design: 4/5 | Performance: 4/5 | Value: 4/5 | Battery Life: 4/5
The Samsung Galaxy A71 has one of the best chipsets for a mid-ranger smartphone to date. With the game booster feature that maximizes performance by learning your game usage patterns and better manages battery, temperature and memory. This allows for optimal use of the battery and chipset, giving excellent game time and without compromising on quality.
The Samsung Galaxy A71 has a delayed in-screen fingerprint reader, and then there’s the fact of the face unlock being less secure than the iPhone 3D-based face unlock. Due to Samsung’s lack of higher-class security in comparison to Apple leaves you with a choice of a less secure facial unlock or a slow fingerprint reader.
Is it for you?
The Galaxy A71 falls high up on the list if you are in the market for a mid-range smartphone. The multi-camera setup, outstanding video and camera features for all your photography and videography moments, matched with a large 4500mAh battery and extra memory to store it all, then where could you go wrong.
What we like
The A71 really impressed us with the super steady video feature that gives you an excellent 4k video, and there are a lot of camera upgrades, mostly being the 64MP main camera fitted with a macro, wide-angle, and depth sensor making it all work well to give you high-quality seamless art.
The sim tray slot has space for two sims allowing you to use different networks simultaneously, and there is the option to add extra 1T memory to this device.
What we don’t like
The fact that even though it’s a mid-range phone in today’s lifestyle having a smartphone without NFC, wireless charging and lack of water resistance is not high on the lists of features to be doing without so we feel that Samsung could look a bit more into those areas for their mid-range.
Should you buy it?
The A71 is an upgrade on the A70, this smartphone ticks all the mid-range price boxes offering reliable name to a quality product you trust.
All in all, if you are upgrading from the previous devices, then this is an excellent option if you are looking for advanced gaming you may find this a bit better suited then most but still lacks in some areas.
