Polar A360 Review
- Color touch screen
- Comprehensive activity tracking
- Multiple colors and band sizes available
The Polar A360 is a fitness tracker from Finnish Company, Polar. The A360 is the companies first to include a real-time on the spot heart rate monitoring for tracking of ongoing progress. The Polar A360 has a number of features common to the standard fitness tracker today, including, dedicated heart rate monitor, calorie counter, step tracking, time recording and sleep tracking. The polar A360 armband’s come in three different sizes and in several colors—so there is room for a bit more customization than other fitness trackers. The A360 has an accompaniment Power Flow App—available for Android and iOS smartphones. This app allows you to dig a bit deeper into your recorded fitness data and tracking, allowing you to review fitness data by session, week, and months or per session. Compared to the competing Activity tracking apps, like those from Jawbone or Fitbit—the Power flow is fairly clean, but perhaps not as refined as those two. In terms of a comparison of the A360 to its competitors along a number of dimensions: Comparing the Polar A360 vs Fitbit Charge HR—the A360 is a bit more expensive, and has a less reliable heart rate monitor, however the A360 is waterproof.
How accurate is it ?
The A360 groups together daily tracking data such as steps and calories together under the “My Day” section—presenting is handily together. The Polar A360 accuracy for the majority of stats is fairly accurate, but as usual it does vary from tracker to tracker—no two devices will ever deliver exactly the same results. As for heart rate monitoring—the A360 delivers fine on-the-spot readings depending on the activity settings selected. For swimming, the heart rate monitoring doesn’t work too well. As for resting heart rate monitoring, the A360 is considerably less accurate than chest-strap style monitoring devices.
How long does it take to charge it ?
The Polar A360 takes from 1-2 hours to charge to full capacity.
How long does its battery last ?
The battery on the Polar A360 is very good. Packed with a 100mAh battery, you can expect the A360 to last up to two weeks before charge with smartphone notifications turned off. If they are turned on however, the battery will likely last from 5-7 days on average. This is still good, but more reflective of the battery life of other devices like the Fitbit Charge HR.
Is it waterproof ?
The A360 is waterproof up to depths of 30 meters—so it’s safe for swimming and showering. This is a great feature that the A360 beats out many of its competitors in, such as the Fitbit Charge HR. While Polar A360 swimming is highly possible, activity tracking while under the water is less accurate than exercise on the ground.
Conclusion: Should I buy it ?
The Polar A360 is a fresh face to the multifaceted space of activity trackers. While it has some really good features; like waterproofing, a nice and simple daily rundown, and a sleek and polished design—It also has some drawbacks. Polar A360 price is a bit more expensive than the Charge HR, and it doesn’t have a great heart rate monitor—considering this feature was one of the promoted new features accompanying its release. If you are looking for a nicely designed activity tracker you can go swimming with and has a great battery life—the A360 could be for you.
