The Specifics:

Features & Design: 3.5/5 ● Performance: 3/5 ● Value: 4/5

The Best:

The Nokia 6 manages to pack in a decent amount of features, like an HD display and fingerprint scanner, into a sleek looking body while still maintaining a budget price point.

The Bugs:

A budget price point means budget performance. The Nokia 6 lacks the horsepower of more expensive phones and will lag during even moderately demanding tasks.

Is it for you?

The Nokia 6 is a budget phone with budget specs. If you’re willing to sacrifice performance and photo quality, the Nokia 6 may suit your needs. Just keep in mind that there may be better options available in this price range.

“The Nokia 6 is a decent phone that sacrifices performance for a competitive price.”

Meet the Nokia 6

The Nokia 6 marks the brand’s return to the smartphone arena. The good news for Nokia fans is that we can expect to see a decent amount of Nokia smartphones in the near future. If the Nokia 6 is any indication, they will be priced very competitively.

The biggest draw of Nokia’s new phone is the price. This phone provides a passable Android experience at a price that makes it accessible to a wide variety of customers. The Nokia 6 is not a luxury phone but, as a smartphone with such a low price tag, it can be difficult to complain.

What we like

The best thing about the Nokia 6 is how affordable it is. In a smartphone market dominated by expensive phones, it’s refreshing to have an option that provides some decent performance at a wallet-friendly price. For the budget-conscious, the Nokia 6 presents an interesting option.

The full HD display provides a screen experience that rivals far more expensive phones and a premium metal design gives the phone a classy and high-quality vibe. Available in colours that include silver, copper, matte black, and tempered blue, the Nokia 6 offers a design to suit any taste. A speedy operating system with no bloatware helps the phone take advantage of its limited power while a quality fingerprint scanner is a surprising, but welcome, addition. With a decent battery, the phone should be able last an entire day of general use.

What we don’t like

As we’ve mentioned several times, a phone available for such a low price has to cut some corners in order to remain affordable. The biggest detractor of the Nokia 6 is its questionable performance. While the phone’s processor will be enough for general use, it suffers when watching HD video, using image-heavy applications (like Instagram), and playing games.

The design of the phone, while pretty, has straight edges that are less comfortable to hold than rounded phones. The camera, while decent, lacks a lot of the features you’ll find in more expensive models. The stock 32 GB of storage likely won’t be enough, although this problem can be solved by adding a micro-SD card.

Should you buy it?

The Nokia 6 is a decent phone that sacrifices performance for a competitive price. This phone is best suited for a budget-conscious buyer who wants to get some bang for their buck. Power users who often push their phone to the limit would be best advised to steer clear of this phone, as the lower specs cause it to struggle with more demanding content.

All in all, the Nokia 6 is a decent handset for general day-to-day use but will fail to live up to the expectations of users who are used to high-end phones. We recommend that you do some extra research. There are arguably better options available in this price range.
