Nintendo Switch Lite Review
The 3-Minute Nintendo Switch Lite Review
The Handheld Game Console
By Rachel Hutson | 28 November 2019
Nintendo has released Switch Lite thisSeptember 20, 2019, as a handheld version of the Nintendo Switch Game Console.
Nintendo is shifting the face of Gaming Consoles with its lightweight handheld design. The Switch Lite comes in four fun colors: Yellow, Gray, Turquoise, and the Zacian and Zamazenta Edition, moving away from the standard black with red and blue controllers.
Sporting a 5.5-inch LCD touch screen and only weights 40g. The size is approximately 4 inches high, 9.4 inches long, and 0.55 inches deep. The Switch lite gives you 3-7 hours of game time due to its 4310mAh battery.
Managed by the NVIDIA custom Tegra processor and has 32GB of internal storage, this can also expand to 2TB with a microSDHC or microSDXC card. The game card slots only fit the Nintendo Switch game cards. The Switch lite has stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The smaller screen changes the way you game as it means you have more control over the touch screen as it’s fully accessible with both thumbs.
The buttons feel so much better on the Switch Lite as they feel smoother and don’t click as much as the Switch.
The Nintendo Switch Lite gives you admittance to the Switch library, and this is a bonus as they have a large selection of games for you to access.
The joystick controls should have been position differently, making them more offset, as this would have been more ergonomically practical.
The Switch Lite sadly doesn’t have the kickstand, unlike the standard switch, but this is due to the device mainly meant to be a handheld device.
The fact that you cannot dock this game console means you lose the ability to have 1080p as you can’t connect to the HD TV to game.
Is it for you?
If you want to game on your daily commute, then this device is perfect for you, but if you want to use this console at home and dock it to your tv then maybe you should look at the Nintendo Switch vs. the Lite.
What we like
The Switch Lite has a battery revamp as the chip layout has changed, which gives the device a more extended game playtime.
This console is solely designed for gaming on the go, so they got rid of all the chunky parts making it easier to carry.
The other thing we like so much about this device is that it is super affordable, so those die-hard console fans can still get there fix.
What we don’t like
There are a few things that bugged us about this console; there is no Bluetooth on this device even though the motherboard supports it, leaving you stuck with just using the headphone jack. Not having the Bluetooth headphone capability was odd as their primary goal for this device was to be portable.
The screen on this device lacked detail and color contrast and felt this was a significant setback as smartphones are coming out with vivid colors and are near bezzle-less.
Should you buy it?
If looking purely at having a portable, lightweight gaming console, then this device is for you, but if you want to dock it at home and play on a larger screen or TV, we would suggest going for the original switch.
