Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm F/1.8G Review

The Nikon AF-S is a Nikkor 50mm lens with maximum aperture of f/1.8G. It has the SWM or the Silent Wave Motor for more silent auto focus. This lens works well with low light even without the use of flash. It is a nice lens for portraits although there is no Image Stabilizer (IS) or Vibration Reduction (VR). The only solution is the use of a tripod. Whether less lighted, normal or under the sun scenarios the images wouldn’t show a hint that there is no VR or IS. This is recommendable to use if you want a natural-looking images with a beautiful bokeh background. With this lens the user need to get used to walking closer or farther due to its lack of zoom. Almost all photo shooters do not like the idea of moving forward of backward when photo shooting. However, expensive zoom lenses normally cost an arm and a leg. This lens is a well-rounded lens. It has a low ISO, speedier shutter speeds and image quality that is hard to find from other lenses. There is a little lessening of sharpness on wide-open range but it is still acceptable. Autofocusing is fast and precise and switch to manual without pressing a button. It is definitely flexible. It even does better than the Nikon F3 50mm 1.4. There are negligible buckles on edges but the whole output is admirable. The Nikon AF-S is not compatible with old cameras since it has no aperture ring. It exterior is plastic-built and bigger than its predecessor but still a carry-around lens and feels durable. It also comes with a lens hood and lens case. For videos, the AF-S motor is a little hard to return to its earlier position. For photos, the images it produces can be blown up to a poster size without any hassle. This Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm has drawn a lot of compliments from users. Its not surprising, though, since it produces awesome photos. Shallow depth of field is definitely awesome. It is a must-carry for its portability and versatility. Users don’t carry heavy gadgets all the time. Unless it is an extremely important event, light lenses like this one fits into the pocket and more practical to bring along. Overall, the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm is an excellent product that has gained the respect of many users worldwide. It is small but reliable and good as advertised. It performs well although its exterior is not 100% impressive. It is considered reasonably priced and worth every penny. It is recommendable to every serious photo shooters.
