Fujifilm X-Pro3 Review
The 3-Minute Fujifilm X-Pro3 Review
Pure Photography with Retro Charm
By Rachel Hutson | 10 February 2020
Fujifilm launched the 3rd generation X-Pro3 in November 2019, as the latest flagship device for the X series models.
The design is lightweight compact and retro, due to its titanium frame, body, and magnesium-alloy interior and distinctcorrosion-resistant paint job. It has a fold-down LCD screen and a small status panel on the rear that is very retro as it displays the settings as an old film form.
This 26MP mirrorless interchangeable lens digital camera delivers outstanding image quality with its color reproduction technology, with the viewfinder that captures a perfectly framed photo. The use of the optical/electronic viewfinder is a hybrid of its generation producing unique images.
The video capabilities on this device are 4k with 30FPS and 200Mbps, settings for exposure, focus, and F-log capabilities.
Features & Design: 3.5/5 ● Performance: 4/5 ● Value: 3/5 ● Sound Quality 2/5
The FUJIFILM X-Pro3 is a mirrorless digital camera that works with a viewfinder that has both a digital and optical sides. The X-Pro has always been known to be the photographer’s camera as it provides a lot of manual controls, and often the images need little to no work done to them in post.
The X-PRO3 has a small problem with its lack of connections, no headphone jack, and the microphone jack is a 2.5mm that doubles as the remote trigger port. There is no HMDI output, so it limits you to only using a PC for video playback.
The grip is lacking compared to the XT-3, Due to Fujifilm centering this camera around street/wedding type photography, leaving it weak for landscape photography.
Is it for you?
If you are within the niche market (wedding, street, or sports) this camera will then be a perfect fit for you as it takes excellent images and little to no editing needed later in post, the color on the images is true to life and of excellent quality.
What we like
With the X-Pro3 being a street-oriented camera, due to its HDR mode combining multiple shots automatically into a high dynamic range JPEG, but the results are softer and less precise than combining done manually.
The X-Pro3 has a large and wide range of selections when it comes to autofocus points, and the 26MP sensor performs well with reducing noise and giving dynamic range.
What we don’t like
This camera is really a niche camera as it only suits a few photography forms such as Street, wedding, and event photography. Due to this very limited range may make it a hard choice to spend on the premium price tag.
On the point of limited options of use there is the issue of the screen, you see they wanted you to focus on using the viewfinder versus using the LCD screen, and if you wish to use it the screen only flips down and has no range of movement so really you battle to use it, its mostly there for settings control.
Should you buy it?
Taking the price into consideration, it's hard to say this will be the best camera for multi-use; this is more for the set photographer on the go trying to catch the best in moment images.
But if you are looking for vlogging and multiuse, then it would be better for you to look at a more versatile camera.
