Fitness Tracker with a Long Battery Life

Features & Design: 4/5 ● Performance: 3.5/5 ● Value: 4/5 ● Battery: 4/5
The Fitbit Alta HR is a simple tracker that is packed with features. It has a heart rate monitor, movement reminders, cardio fitness level indicators, smartphone synchronization for notifications, sleep tracker and silent alarms, sleep stage monitor, smart track, and much more. The battery is also really good, and it lasts for days.
As this is a really compact device, don’t expect much of a screen. The accessory bands are interchangeable, but might not be to everyone’s taste.
Is it for you?
As this is a fitness band with tracking and progress indicators, it is likely that people with fitness on their minds will be the biggest beneficiaries of such a device. If you are a couch potato then chances are that you will not derive the greatest utility from the Fitbit Alto HR.
Meet the Fitbit Alta HR
As a fitness tool, it is hard to beat the simplicity and usefulness of the Fitbit Alta HR. It has basic tap initiated controls, and has a rudimentary display that shows vital information on the screen during your workout. Any further details that are required by the user can be delved into much deeper from synchronizing the Fitbit with a smartphone or computer. From there, trends and progress and be mapped and measured.
What we like
This is a great minimalistic device that serves its purpose well, and is very light to wear. It is narrower than a standard watch, so at times you may not even notice that you are wearing it.
The heart monitoring and fitness measuring tools also work very well, providing fitness oriented people with a high degree of value and functionality. The overall styling is very simple, but with a few customizations with aftermarket wrist bands, you can really make the device your own.
The vibrational alerts work well, and the screen is easy to read when needed. The battery life can last for up to 7 days without a charge, which makes it incredibly efficient.
What we don’t like
Some of the features that make the device a little less than stellar are the very same things that make it great, it will depend on your own personal taste in wearable tech. Some people may not appreciate the compact nature of this fitbit, and the screen might not be the biggest in that regard.
The limited user interface also becomes apparent after considerable use, meaning that without a companion device such as a smart phone or laptop there is not an awful lot that you can do with the device, other than wear it.
Should you buy it?
If you are into fitness, or are planning to get healthier by engaging in physical activity, then this is certainly a device worth considering. When used correctly, you will be able to track your current fitness level, and then monitor your progress as you get fitter and stronger. Setting movement reminders is also a great way to stay active during the day, especially if you find yourself stuck behind a desk more often than not during the week. Overall this is a barebones device with a singe purpose: to help you get fit.
