Canon PowerShot SX60 HS Review
The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS aims to please both professionals and novices that want to experiment their photography talents. Probably the most cherished function of the new Canon camera is the wide-angle lens, providing a 65x optical zoom, which is suited for both close-ups or portraits and landscapes. The lens relies on the 16.1MP CMOS sensor, which in turn works better to provide much less noise on pictures taken with higher ISO settings.
Thanks to the sensor, autofocus is achieved at a high speed and continuous shooting can take place with fewer breaks in-between shots.
Canon PowerShot SX60 HS, just as its name implies, features the HS system within its body. The system is the combination of the aforementioned CMOS sensor with the DIGIC 6 Image Processor also featured within the SX60. Together, they work towards effectively reducing noise and capturing as much light as possible, regardless of the environment. Noise remains at much lower values, even if high ISO values, such as the 3200 one, are used. These features apply not just to photos, but also to videos.
Indeed, The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS is able to shoot video, as well. The camera is able to record at 1080p for a Full HD experience, while preserving a 60fps value. To facilitate the video shooting process, the camera features a dedicated Movie button. If the standard microphone is not enough, there is also the possibility to attach an external microphone via a 3.5mm jack.
If limited connectivity was an issue in the past, the current Canon camera is able to connect to various devices to facilitate photo and video transfer. The NFC and WiFi technologies are featured in the camera, so that Android and iOS users can work with their phones to receive content from Canon device.
The Canon Image Gateway is designed to provide users access to social websites in an instant so they can share photos directly from the camera. When it comes to mobile devices, thanks to the WiFi connectivity, they can be used as remote controls for remote shooting with the SX60 HS model.
When it comes to the display, the Canon PowerShot SX60 HS boasts a 3 inch LCD display. The flexibility of the display has been increased compared to previous camera models, so that it can be rotated and swiveled just enough to be used when taking self-portraits with the camera. For those that are not too concerned about the Manual mode of the camera, which is obviously available and provides access to most of the needed features, there are also Smart AUTO features. These bring together 58 preset shooting situations for photography and 21 more for videos.
The Hybrid AUTO feature is also useful for those that would like to get a “highlights” reel of their daily shots, as each time a shot is taken, the camera will also record four seconds of video, joining all these bits in the end, providing access to a 720p HD film.
