Canon PIXMA Pro-100 Review
Canon Pixma Pro-100 is a junior model in the professional photo inkjet line of Canon. However it still is able to output prints of gallery quality at size reaching 13 by 19 inches. This makes it a great selection for doing amateur photography.
Canon Pixma Pro-100 is a junior model in the professional photo inkjet line of Canon. However it still is able to output prints of gallery quality at size reaching 13 by 19 inches. This makes it a great selection for doing amateur photography. Its HWD dimensions are 8.6 x 27.2 x 15.2 inches when closed, making it slightly larger in comparison to Epson Stylus Photo Stylus R2000 and roughly the same weight. Just as the R2000, Pixma Pro 100 from Canon lacks LCD and instructions plus data such as ink tank levels get displayed on computer screen from which the user prints. It offers Ethernet and Wi-Fi together with connection via USB.
The Pro-100 utilizes eight ink tanks for dye-based inks, namely gray, black, yellow and light-gray; photo magenta, magenta, photo cyan and cyan. Canon Pixma Pro-100 photo-printer is the high-end model within the series and sports 12 ink tanks. The sticker price of Pro-100 is much less comparatively to that of Pro-1, yet its ink costs are appreciably higher. The Pixma Pro boasts having two paper trays. A rear tray is available for an array of fine art plus glossy photo papers, along with thicker-media manual slot. It as well permits printing to be done onto printable DVDs, CDs and Blu-ray discs.
Speed somewhat takes back seat to quality when considering near-dedicated photo printers, even though faster machines are generally more acceptable. Few people would buy the PRO-100 just for printing text, though it may achieve this if needful, since it features above-average inkjet-quality. It performed well especially on a number of the business fronts more common. Quality of graphics is above average for an inkjet, although colors may be off-mark at times.
The PRO-100 shines greatly especially with photos and does impressively in capturing details in light and dark regions alike. The printing machine produces good quality of photos overall, which easily suit sale or exhibition prints. Canon Pixma Pro-1 is twice the cost of Pro-100, being equally larger, slower and heavier, but it does have appreciably lower costs in ink terms. Epson Stylus Photo R3000 in comparison prints top-tier graphics and photos, adding color LCD plus ability of printing from paper rolls.
Epson R2000 is just slightly smaller than Canon PIXMA Pro-100, having slight advantage in speed and slightly lower cost of ink. They both generate gallery-worth prints. Choosing in-between them could come down to the look or prints which you prefer, which are marginally variable in quality. The two devices do indeed offer connectivity via Ethernet, Wi-Fi and USB. Overall, Canon PIXMA Pro-100 could be at the bottom-list of near-dedicated photo printers, but it still does generate good-quality output.
