Bose QuietComfort 20 Review
Bose QuietComfort 20 fits securely in the ears and is quite comfortable to wear. These Bose earbuds weigh just 1.5 ounces and are presented with a minimalistic zippered cloth carrying case, compared to over-the-ear Q15 versions. This aspect in particular makes the product very travel-friendly. They bear a similar design to the MIE2i headphones from Bose that rest in fairly loose manner in the ears. These headphones exhibit the renowned TriPort design of its manufacturer, carving out extra space for maximizing Bose’s proprietary acoustic voodoo. Two microphones added help in monitoring external noise. A mirror sound-wave is fitted into this pair of headphones to provide noise cancelling effects. This enables one to experience relative calm while listening to music. The QC20 employs a unique kind of processing chip that exclusive to Bose.Bose QuietComfort 20 exhibits three sizes of flexible ear-tips of “StayHear+” design, with each having wings for bracing itself against the outer-ear cup. The battery pack is Lithium-ion by constitution and embedded within a control pod on-cord. A user can recharge it using the standard Micro-USB cable, with Boss pledging a battery life of 16 hours. If the battery dies, this device keeps producing sound. This is an advantage in passive mode, as everything sounds somewhat boosted and slightly-more dynamic once the NC is turned.
A smaller, second remote is available for controlling volume. It lies at the joint of Y-cable that leads to the right and left ear-buds. As well, this one has a microphone that facilitates phone-calls, together with a switch for toggling “Aware mode.” Engaging it ramps down noise cancellation to significant degrees, thus enabling the user to hear and engage the outside world. Both the rechargeable battery and control pod have been integrated into the cord and the battery is irreplaceable.
Just as for most Bose headphones, Bose QuietComfort 20 may not generate exceptional quality of sound. This may suit the apparent approach the manufacturer utilizes in all such products it produces. The gadget is designed to accommodate variable forms of music, both of poor and rich quality in equal measure and generate decent sound output. As such, its users can look forward to fairly-nice sound, yet not the highly-detailed kind.
The headphones appear to perform very well overall. Indeed, Bose QuietComfort 20 has its own downsides, which include high pricing. However, they offer remarkable noise cancelling capability of any in-ear headphone. This should prove tempting to frequent travelers seeking for an alternative to full-size NC headphones. The QC20 from Boss is its first in-ear headphone featuring active noise-cancellation features. There are good reasons for spending on this personal electronic gadget, regardless of its costly nature. Bose QuietComfort 20 offers the benefits of being a compact set of in-ear devices that produces good sound. It is comfortable to wear at almost any place due to its outstanding noise-cancellation functionality. This particular feature is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery of rechargeable nature, which can last for a maximum of 16 hours.
