BenQ SW2700PT Review

Key features

Decent price point No calibration needed Amazing panel and processing

Introduction

Benq sw2700pt is a computer monitor that offers more than your ordinary monitor. It is advertised as having a color gamut that almost covers the whole AdoobeRGB hence providing perfect color accuracy and has a high contrast levels which helps to show defined edges. It also features several customization options and preset modes for various presentation methods; all this making it the perfect screen for photographers. The monitor features a 27-inch LCD panel which boosts a resolution of 2,560 X 1,440. This is the equivalent of 108 pixels per inch. It comes equipped with a decent stand with a wide base and a strong neck for stability. It allows the user various adjustment options, pivot, tilt and can allow you to use it vertically by rotating 90 degrees. A hole in the support can be used to keep your cables organized. The monitor comes with an included shade that helps reduce glare hence keeps color accuracy on the semi-gloss screen. The shade has simple mounting and dismounting procedure and it also features a small portal through which you can insert a calibration tool so that you can calibrate even with the shade in place.

What are the ports and interface ?

There is a fare selection of input and output ports on the Benq sw2700pt. it only offers a single DisplayPort input which rules out daisy-chaining multiple monitors. On the side of the monitor you will find an SD card reader port and two USB 3.0 ports.

What is the overall performance ?

The screen is advertised as capable of covering 99 percent of the AdobeRGB spectrum, but even when it is switched to AdobeRGB mode, it manages to cover 93 percent, which is still a decent figure. A 382 lux brightness limit is observed and an impressive contrast of 780:1 is observed

What is the sound quality ?

It is not equipped with internal speakers.

What are the modes available ?

The monitor has five menu buttons which are a bit confusing since they are not labeled. The first three (from left to right) open source , color and brightness; while the fourth button carries the mammoth off the on-screen menu options. Settings under the fourth button are divided into three submenus. The first of the sub-menus is Display and offers options for aspect ration and input. The second sub-menu, the Color adjustment, comprises numerous tweaks. Color accuracy can be set to photo, black and white, standard, AdobeRGB, sRGB and low blue light mode. Setings like brightness, contrast, sharpness and contrast levels are adjustable on a numerical sliding scales. Color temperature is definable at 9300K, 6500K and 5000K, while the gamut can be set tosRGB or AdobeRGB. The dinal submenu on the fourth button is the System, and it lets you change OSD language, clock setting, remote control presets and has the restore to factory settings options. A wired remote is provided for the monitor’s setings.

Conclusion: Should I buy it ?

There are plenty of reasons why you should consider this monitor. It has impeccable feature that are matched by few and would really work well for photographers. Benq offer a three-year warranty on the monitor and its price is reasonable. It doesn’t however, cater to gaming and surfing.

  • The Good :
