Audio-Technica ATH-M50 Review
The Audio Technica ATH M50 is a professional studio monitor headphone that is closed-back and has an advanced seal for isolation. This headphone is foldable for easy storage or for convenience when travelling.
The ear pieces on this Audio Technica headphone are circumaural. Its headband is adjustable for a perfect fit and it is padded; however, the headband is also a little tight and not padded enough, it can put pressure on the head. There are cases, though, that this headband is a little big and kind of loose. This depends, mainly, on the size of a person’s head and face.
The sound being produced by the ATH M50 is above par. The bass sound is perfect. There is no distortion whatsoever. The sound is more distinct and the instruments can be heard separately. The sound is original, the same recorded sound, without any addition or enhancements. If the original recording of the sound was flawless, it will come out as it is in the headphone. So, in case it wasn’t recorded very nicely, then, that will be the output of the headphone. In that case, the headphone couldn’t be blamed for that. Noise cancellation is excellent. Somebody has to use some sign languages in order to get your attention, in case, you are busy listening to music with this headphone on you. Because it successfully blocks out sounds from the outside.
This is good to use when avoiding destructions, but, if you need to give attention on something like phone calls, car’s honking, oven’s alarm and others, an open-back is advised. When using a library or a computer laboratory, this headphone is really useful to avoid making noise that would disturb other people. The cord is relatively long. You can still move around with the headphone on your head. But it is too long if you will just use it with your gadget inside your pocket or bag. The Audio Technica ATH M50 is a little heavy, so, it is not that comfortable to wear for many hours. This headphone is a winner when it comes to price. With the quality of sound that it delivers, it is worth every penny.
