The Specifics

Apple has introduced the new iPhone 12 with a few big changes, such as wideband 5G connectivity and the new unique A14 Bionic chip. Apple has made a few changes such as the new Ceramic Shield glass protection, which is up to 4x more resistant to drop damage and that’s exactly what you want with a high-end iPhone. The iPhone 12 also has a new feature called MagSafe, which uses a series of magnets that connect almost perfectly every time, so you can conveniently use for fast charging up to 15w.

Unlike the LCD screen of the iPhone 11, the iPhone 12 has a 6.1” XDR OLED, 1170 x 2532 pixels, 460ppi density display, which gives you incredibly immersive vibrant colours with rich contrast. The iPhone’s overall build quality is superb, offering stainless steel framework with a touch of old era style. The shape is squared off, so you can take videos and pictures more conveniently. Apple unfortunately hasn’t changed the fact that you cannot use expandable memory, but you can choose between 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of internal storage within the range.

The Best

All the new iPhones come with the new iOS 14.1 operating system installed, which is great for privacy and functionality. Besides for some good cosmetic changes, you can now add some widgets to your home screen, and you can place them in a stacked order, so you can flip through them. The iPhone 12 includes a picture-in-picture mode as well, now you can text and watch your favorite episodes of a series or video at the same time without missing out.

The Bugs

Unfortunately, the iPhone 12 still has a refresh rate of only 60hz, as do the rest of the range such as the iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max compared to high end Android devices which can support a refresh rate of 120hz. The battery is average at 2815mAh, but because of the high end A14 Bionic Chip and hardware upgrades, this can drain the battery excessively.

Is it for you?

The iPhone 12 features an ultra-wide camera and night mode upgrades, with the brilliant display that comes with it. If you are a fan of Apple, this will be an excellent device for the average user who enjoys good durability, gaming performance and photography.

What we like

The all-new A14 Bionic chip is up to 50% faster than the A13 chip which is a first in the industry. Performance is also very liquid, thanks to the chip and powerful iOS 14.1 operating system.

Apple has introduced the MagSafe Charging System. There are some really cool accessories which can be attached to the iPhone, such as wallets and powerbanks.

What we don’t like

The iPhone 12 does not include a charger, so you’ll need to buy one in order to charge it and we hope that the next iPhone will have a higher refresh rate like that of other Android devices. The new iPhone 12 Pro has a LiDAR sensor, whereas the iPhone 12 does not.

Should you buy it?

The iPhone 12 is a great all-round device with fantastic hardware and durability upgrades; however, you can get most of the full experience from the iPhone 12 Pro which also includes

the LiDAR sensor. The iPhone 12 Mini also has the LiDAR sensor; however, it is still the cheapest in its range.
