Apple IPhone 11 Pro Review

The 3-Minute Apple iPhone 11 Pro Review

The iPhone 11 Pro is More Zoom for Your Mobile

The Specifics

The iPhone 11 Pro is one of Apple’s latest iPhone offerings unveiled at the September 2019 keynote. The phone bears plenty of similarity to the 2018 flagship, the iPhone XR. First, there are new cameras that are worth whatever price Apple is making this phone available at.

The shiny metal edges curve nicely in the palm, while the 5.8-inch screen is interrupted at the top by the top-notch. The bottom of the iPhone 11 has two perforated grilles – one holds a speaker, and the other is for symmetrical aesthetics.

The triple-lens rear camera is where Apple showcased its revered design chops. There are three 12MP lenses shooting regular, telephoto, and ultra-wide perspectives (new to the iPhone family).

The rear cameras also offer 4K videos with great sound, but perhaps the interesting feat here is the “slo-fie” - slow-motion videos from the 12MP front camera.

Battery life is noticeably superior to the iPhone XS – a full 4 hours longer. Even with heavy use, the battery lasts longer than one day. The charger is quite fast, offering up to 55% in half an hour.

The phone’s bottom houses the same Lightning connector from the last few years, not the USB-C used on the new iPad Pro and MacBooks, as seen on most recent smartphones.

The iPhone 11 Pro’s glass has been hailed by the phone’s makers as the “toughest glass ever” though drop tests from various heights proved otherwise. Storage comes in 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants.

The Best

One significant upgrade on the regular iPhone 11 is the iPhone 11 Pro’s third camera for optical zoom. This provides more range while you shoot. Apple’s new Night mode also gives you excellent photos in low light.

Movie-like results are now possible due to the iPhone 11’s extended dynamic range in video and cinematic stabilization.

The Bugs

iOS 13 (which ships with the iPhone 11 Pro) has yet to live up to its billing. The thumb-downs started rolling in for this operating system as soon as the phone launched. Pictures are inexplicably assigned new dates, the text field flips out on occasion in iMessages, and apps randomly crash while opening them. Other bugs include cellular signals dropping, and the camera app performing slowly, even with the impressive A13 Bionic chip in the engine room.

Is it for you?

The iPhone 11 Pro is not a poor device by any standards. It is Apple’s most powerful iPhone offering to date, and will likely make its mark as the most powerful camera phone on the market. It only appears to make minimal improvements on the iPhone XS. Apple’s A13 Bionic chip seems to make huge promises when it comes to real-world use.

What we like

The iPhone 11 Pro’s cameras will continue to wow users for a long time to come. This is definitely the fastest phone, thanks to its A13 Bionic processor – a real beast.

What we don’t like

There are really no headline features to say this phone is truly impressive. The camera arsenal is great, but there’s really not much else for a device wielding such a powerful processor.

Should you buy it?

If you are after amazing photo quality, the iPhone 11 Pro delivers this via its three cameras. The best-in-class performance and compact design are also other reasons why you should consider buying this phone.

  • The Good :
Fantastic triple cameras, Fastest-in-class A13 Bionic chip, Brighter OLED display, Longer battery life
  • The Bad :
Shorter battery life than iPhone 11, Only 64GB storage for starting price, Slightly heavier and thicker than the iPhone XS
Our score:
4 / 5
