Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 Review
The Sony Cybershot DSC-RX100 is a 3-inch WhiteMagic LCD display with 20.2megapixels, 3.6x Optical Zoom digital camera that is manually controlled. The camera settings can be adjusted with ease that includes zooming, aperture and picture effects.
One significant drawback of this Sony digital camera is the limited optics. The aperture drops fast when you are zooming in. This is the reason why the shallow DOF is kind of restricted. There are some distortions when you try to take a portrait shot with bokeh at 28mm focal length. At f1.8, landscapes and group pictures with low-lighted settings are pleasing. The megapixel is high, at 20.2; however, the noise is kept to a minimum. With its large aperture, images appear sharp and of brilliant colors even under a fluorescent light. Another drawback is the selling price. It is extremely portable but pricier than other digital cameras of almost the same image quality, features and performance.
Autofocusing is fast and precise. It is very responsive. There is no obvious sluggishness in the shutter speed and distortions are slight. On the other hand, there is a need to buy a memory card for this cam. For the exterior, it is well-built and cannot be considered extremely light as a compact cam. But it is aluminum made and unquestionably stylish and heavy-duty. It is, however, it magnetizes finger prints and dust more often due to its sleek exterior. This RX100 camera weighs 240g. It is so portable, actually pocketable, and very convenient to carry anytime for some expected and unexpected photo shooting adventures. This camera has a large sensor that gives admirable images but limited space for storing photos. This cam has a 3.6x optical zoom which is not really impressive. Nevertheless, image quality is stunning with the help of various settings that encourages any user to be more creative. This is quick to operate and there's no need for an instructions manual.
The camera has its way to assist the user. It displays some information and tips especially when you press the Help button. User's guidebook or discs are not included in the camera package, but the built-in manual is extremely handy and accessible anytime you need it. You won't find any viewfinder but the brilliant LCD is consistently supportive. Also landscape setting is awesome as if you are using a video and you can do away with connecting photos on your PC. Charging the battery is not a challenge. Its micro-USB can be connected to a wall charger or a computer for charging. With a fully charged battery, an extra battery might not be needed. By the way, the battery can only be charged while inside the camera. This Cybershot DSC-RX100 produces high-caliber images with enough details, sharpness and attractive colours. The images come close to the DSLRs and the menu is just like what the DSLRs have, it is indeed pretty obvious that you are getting a top of the line, all-purpose and carry-around camera. Overall, the Sony Cybershot DSC-RX100 is a pocketable camera that is almost like a DSLR. It is light and small. Others find it difficult to handle due to its small size that seems slip-prone, however, most users who got fed up with using heavy lenses and DSLR find this cam a silent buddy that can be brought anywhere all the time. It is definitely a great value for money.
