    • The good:
Super zoom lens, Very high resolution sensor
    • The bad:
Image quality not 100% great, Not ideal for large prints

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HXC200V is a high-end super zoom camera that has amazing and impressive features including a built-in GPS, 360 degree panorama maker, 10fps burst shooting, instant HDR photos and 1080/60p videos.

The HXC200V resembles the look of a DSLR. Its body has a solid, metal built with a large, rubberized hand grip. It has a dotted area on the rear where the right thumb rests, for a more secure and solid grip. It has an NP-FH50 lithium-ion battery that holds 6.1Wh of energy, which is pretty good for a compact camera. The camera houses a wide array of buttons, mode dial and a 3-inch LCD screen, which is bright and can be easily tilted. It also has an electronic viewfinder that is automatically activated when a user place his/her eye on it. It also has a deportee wheel that adjusts according to a user's eyesight. There are settings that do not have their dedicated button, but the camera offers a menu system that is easy to navigate.

One of the best things about this camera is it has the highest resolution sensor (18 megapixels) in a compact camera. It also has one of the most powerful zoom lenses (30X) and has a healthy (albeit unimpressive) amount of built-in 105MB of memory that can hold up to 17 photos at the highest quality setting. The HXC200V take excellent photos, with plenty of details whether shooting wide or close up. There is, however, purple fringing and chromatic aberration in contrasting areas. Shooting close ups with the camera is a breeze as it does not require users to switch to macro mode. With its minimum focusing distance of 1cm, it is capable of taking excellent and very detailed images.

The camera also takes crisp and noise-free images at ISO 100. A little amount of noise appears at ISO 200 and ISO 400. Photos begin to soften at ISO 800 and at ISO 1600, sharpness and details are further reduced. At ISO 3200, photos are evidently softened. This, however, doesn’t detract from the many positive feats in this Sony compact hybrid model. Overall, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HXC200V is a beast of a camera. It is solidly built and packed with features that make the camera perfect for taking photographs and shooting videos.
