Motorola RAZR Review
Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, Motorola released its new RAZR phone, doing away with the fliptop design to keep up with the touchscreen-dominated techie world. The Motorola RAZR XT910 comes in the trademark sleek and thin design of all RAZR phones, measuring just 5.15 x 2.71 x 0.28 inches.
The device's 4.3-inch screen approximately has 256ppi pixel density and has a Gorilla Glass finish. It uses Super AMOLED technology, giving the phone better contrast and vibrancy than most of its contemporaries. Just below the screen are four touch-sensitive buttons: Menu, Home, Back, and Search. Unlike some android phones with buttons that are either too sensitive or not at all, this handheld's set of buttons works perfectly.
The most amazing thing about the device is its impressive build which makes it one of the slimmest smartphones in the world. The back of the phone is made of Kevlar, a material that's five times stronger than metal. Its internal build is made of stainless steel and everything inside - chipsets, wires, electricals, etc. - is covered with a special material which prevents the phone from being destroyed by water.
Another plus factor for the RAZR is its memory card slot which can accomodate up to 32GB. Add in the internal storage capacity of 16GB, the whole phone can yield 48GB of memory while other smartphones available in the market only come with memories barely half of that. Some of the built-in apps in the phone are really useful, like the MOTOPRINT which lets owners edit and print their documents. However, it is missing one key feature: it has no FM radio.
Phone calls are not a problem with this handheld because it has a noise-cancelling dedicated secondary mic for increased comprehension. The primary camera is 8 megapixels and can record a video at 1080p. Aside from the fact that it has autofocus and comes in with LED flash, there is nothing spectacular with its performance. The secondary camera in front of the device is also standard at 1.3 megapixels. Battery life, as with most smartphones, is average - lasting only a day with light to moderate use. It is locked inside the device so replacement might be a hassle.
